As usual, this is the play where you should be allocating somewhere between 5 (for real) and 95% (when you’re betting against Louisville anything) of your gambling stake/liquid assets/expendable possessions, etc. Last week we got back on track with an easy cover on the spread and (not so easy cover on the) over/under of that mayhem in Tempe between the Sun Devils and Ducks. If you were on either play or parlayed it like a true pro, I know you had a blast watching that game as I did. This week, you can again rest assured knowing that we’ve put as much time into this pick as Rick Pitino did into his late-night Porcini meetings, and there have been several seconds, perhaps even minutes of analysis devoted to this piece. This week’s play features the Kentucky Wildcats and the Dirty Birds of Louisville. There’s a lot of history between these two programs, (almost as long as the list of NCAA violations under former AD Tom Jurich) and it’s become arguably one of the more bitter rivalries in college football. While Louisville has outperformed everyone’s (dumpster fire) expectations coming into the season, Kentucky has to be at least slightly disappointed in what could’ve been another double-digit win season before injuries plagued basically the entirety of their quarterback depth chart. However, Lynn Bowden has moved over from wide receiver to fill the QB vacancy in magnificent fashion, and OC Eddie Gran has revamped the entire offense around his multifaceted skill set. In terms of weather, it looks to be a cold/rainy mess for the noon kickoff. Bowden seems to especially dominate when the weather is a factor, as shown by his performances at Georgia and against Missouri. Kentucky comfortably covered the spread in each contest (currently 8-3 against the spread on the season, 6-1 with Bowden starting). Louisville is without Russ Yeast, strong safety and a key cog in their rush defense, expect Kentucky to cover easily with close to 400 yards on the ground against one of the weaker rush defenses in FBS.
